K. Makansi is the pen name for the mother-daughter writing team of:
Kristina Blank Makansi – Born and raised in Southern Illinois, Kristina has a B.A. in Government from University of Texas at Austin and a M.A.T. from the College of New Jersey and an opinion on everything. She has worked as a copywriter, science writer, marketing specialist, web designer, book designer, editor, and publisher. In 2010, she co-founded Blank Slate Press, an award-winning small press focusing on debut authors in the greater St. Louis area, and in 2014, she co-founded Amphorae Publishing Group, a traditional small press that has garnered awards for authors across the country. In addition to the SEEDS Trilogy, she’s published several additional novels, including THE ALCHEMIST OF ALEPPO, THE TROUBLE WITH ROOMMATES, and NEMESIS IN LOVE.
Amira K. Makansi – Amira graduated with honors in three years from the University of Chicago. She earned a BA in History and was a team leader and officer for UChicago Mock Trial. She served as an assistant editor and read and evaluated Blank Slate Press submission, and is an avid reader and blogger who also has a passion for food, wine, and photography. She has worked at various wineries in Oregon and France and is approaching fluency in French. In addition to The SEEDS Trilogy, she has written THE PATHS BETWEEN THE STARS, and LITERARY LIBATIONS, WHAT TO DRINK WITH WHAT YOU READ. She is also an entrepreneur and runs her own marketing company, North Node Marketing.
Elena K. Makansi – Elena has an MFA in illustration & design from the University of Arizona and she graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in Environmental Studies especially as it relates to her passion—food justice. She’s been a long time student of the studio arts and drawing and has had her work featured in several publications. She also attended the Washington University Summer Writing Institute and the Iowa Young Writers Studio. She and Amira have backpacked through Europe together and share a passion for food. Elena works as a social media specialist and continues to do art under her Forager brand.
