Episode 1: THE SOWING, Book One of The Seeds Trilogy

We are delighted to present the cover design for our digital-only “episodes” of THE SOWING, Book One in The Seeds Trilogy.

From July 17 through September 9, we will release the nine episodes of THE SOWING, and then we’ll release the full digital version as well as a print copy. This is an “adventure in publishing,” and we’d be delighted if you’d join us! You’ll be able to purchase episodes here on our website as well as on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.

Now, about the cover. We worked closely with the young and very talented designer Kevin Weitzel (who is also an avid reader) to create a design that embodies the feel of the book and that can also evolve over the course of the nine episodes. We’re still working on the cover for the print version and full digital compilation.

THE SOWING is, for the most part, a New Adult, dark, serious adventure story. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, where society has strong parallels to our current age. Not everything is serious, though. There is (we hope you’ll agree) some comedy, and several of our characters are a teeny bit sarcastic. Oh, okay, one or two have a bit of an attitude. So, there’s that. And there’s also a lot of symbolism. And plants.  And talk of food. And eating. So we tried to reflect all of these things in our cover. The green symbolizes plant life, growing things, coming back to life. The scratched metallic background being taken over by ivy represents the ruin of our current world and the resilience of nature. The gold font choices symbolize luxury, materialism, and power. The gold symbol in the foreground represents–oops. We can’t reveal that just yet. You’ll have to wait and see as the symbol evolves over the course of the nine episodes.
